There is a video that has gone viral showing a man named Abdul Masood from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, holding a knife on a crowded road before being shot by police personnel. He was shot by UP police last Sunday while openly intimidating the shopkeepers in the market by brandishing a knife with both hands.

Verified accounts on twitter, including @RealBababanaras claimed that Abdul Masood of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, is the man brandishing a knife on a busy road and getting shot by police. He was openly intimidating the store owners last Sunday by brandishing a knife in the marketplace with both hands, and the UP police shot him. The tweet was made on March 16, 2024, which has received an about 254k views on X.

@VinubhaiPatel8 made the same claim that shared footage purports to be of Abdul Masood, a man from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, who is shown carrying a knife on a crowded road before being shot by police on March 15, 2024.

In actuality, this is an old footage from Kalaburagi in Karnataka, when in February 2023, a man was observed brandishing a knife in a threatening manner towards people. He was identified as Fazal Bhagavan as per the reports.The incident is not related to Uttar Pradesh and appears to be old.

A man was seen on camera threatening people at a crowded spot while brandishing a knife in the Kalaburagi region of Karnataka.
