False Claim: Iranian Regime Publicly Hangs Jewish Mossad Agent

A video is being circulated claiming to show a recent public hanging in Iran of a blindfolded Jewish man accused of being a Mossad agent. However, this claim is not true. The video has been online since at least April 2024.

Propagandist @jpsin1 claimed:

“Iran arrested more than 700 Iranian Jews after the war with Israel… They are being publicly hanged on cranes.”

Another Influencer @IPSinghSp also post this video claiming:

After the war ended, the Iranian Islamic regime has arrested more than 700 Jewish Iranians, which is one-tenth of Iran’s entire Jewish population. They are being falsely accused of being ‘Mossad agents’ and are being publicly hanged on cranes. Where are the people of world human rights?

Other users including @iran_thran@Sakshi_Sonam_@im_vrj@bbklive_ , and @sanjayjourno also pushed this narrative—spreading misleading religious and geopolitical claims to manipulate public sentiment and gain visibility amid ongoing Iran–Israel tensions.

Fact: Viral Hanging Video is a Staged Stunt from a Film Set

As this clip gained traction, it drew our attention. The D Intent Data Team began investigating immediately. We conducted a reverse image search and a frame-by-frame analysis. We traced the video to a YouTube channel called Alireza Donyadide, which describes itself as focused on stunt and action scene design. The video, titled “Hanging the Actor Backstage,” includes hashtags such as #actor, #stunt, and #cinema. Visual analysis confirms that the scene is staged. It is described as a behind-the-scenes moment from the movie Stunt Designer. Further analysis shows that the rope around the neck is not taut in a way consistent with execution. Additional ropes appear to support the person from behind. At the end of the video, others are seen helping the individual, further indicating that this is a staged stunt rather than a real execution.

Though credible outlets like BBC, Reuters and Times of Israel report that Iran has arrested several people and, in some cases, executed individuals accused of spying for Israel.

Influencers and political workers are circulating old, staged videos with misleading religious and geopolitical claims to manipulate public sentiment and gain visibility amid ongoing Iran–Israel tensions.
