Recently, anti-India propaganda accounts based in Bangladesh have been circulating false claims that a nine-month pregnant Muslim woman’s stomach was cut open with a baby and burned by Hindus in India. However, These claims are not true. The incident being referenced is from the 2002 Gujarat riots. The post-mortem report of the woman, Kausar Bano, had already revealed that she died due to suffocation, fear, and shock, with no external or internal injuries.

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the incident and found that these claims were nothing but propaganda against India.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a relevant keyword search and found multiple reports regarding the incident of Kausar Bano, published in 2010. According to the reports (1, 2), Dr Jayant Kanoria who had done the post-mortem of Kausar Bano, recorded in his statements before the designated court of judge Jyotsna Ben Yagnik, that Bano died due to shock and fear and her dead body bears no internal or external injuries.

According to defence counsel MN Kikani, “Based on post mortem report and during cross-examination of the witness, Dr Kanoria who had done the post mortem of several victims, it had come to light that Kausar Bano died due to suffocation, fear and shock and her. Te body bears no external or internal injuries”.
