However, these allegations are false. The incident in question is not recent; it occurred in May 2023, and both the accused woman and the injured girl are from the same community. The attack had no religious or sectarian motive, and there is no connection to the claim that the victim is a Christian girl.
Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) propagandist account @ajaychauhan41 wrote. “Massacre of Christians by Islamic extremists continues in Nigeria – Extremists stabbed a girl and left her to die in agony but thankfully she did not give up until help arrived. Her parents were murdered in front of her eyes”.

As soon as the posts containing the sensitive video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the incident. And found that the incident was not related to religious hate crimes.
To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a relevant keyword search and found media reports regarding the incident. According to the media reports (1, 2), a woman in Kano State was arrested after attempting to kill an 8-year-old girl in order to prevent her husband from marrying a second wife. The Nigeria Police in Kano State, located in the northwest of the country. Arrested 35-year-old Fatima Salisu for the attempted murder of Sharifa Usman in the Kumbotso Local Government Area.
Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the accused and victim both belonged to the same community. It was not related to religious hate crimes.
