Fact Check: Canada named India as a terrorism-sponsoring country? 

Claims are circulating that Canada has designated India as a state sponsoring terrorism. However, these claims are entirely false and baseless. Reports indicate that Canada has included India in its list of cyber threats. Specifically, India is the fifth country, following China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea, in Canada’s National Cyber Threat Assessment 2025-2026.

Making a post on X (Formerly Twitter) self-proclaimed OSINT account @CaptCoronado wrote, “Update: Canada declares India a terrorist state!!”. The post has received more than 240k views, 7k likes and a significant number of engagements.

Propaganda account @SAnPerspective also made a post and wrote, “Canada declares India as a terrorism-sponsoring state for the first time.”

Several other Influencers and propagandists have also disseminated the claims. Their posts can be seen here, @NavCom24, @ShirinKhan0.

The truth behind the claims related to Canada, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis regarding the claims and found that Canada didn’t name India as a terror-sponsoring country.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a relevant keyword search and couldn’t find verified and official sources supporting the claims. However, during the research, we found reports regarding Canada naming India as a cyber threat. According to reports India is named fifth after China, Russia, Iran and North Korea in the National Cyber Threat Assessment 2025-2026. There are no verified and credible sources suggesting that Canada named India as a terror-sponsoring country. 

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that Canada has not named India as a terror-sponsoring country.
