Propaganda accounts linked to Pakistan have recently circulated false claims alleging that Canada accused India of being responsible for 80% of terrorist activities in Asia. However, this baseless narrative has no foundation in reality, as Canada has made no such statement.
Making a post on X (Formerly Twitter) serial fake news peddler and propagandist account @NavCom24 wrote, “Canada says that India is involved in 80% of the terrorist activities in Asia”
Another propaganda account @TacticalTribun also made a post and wrote, “Canada says, India is involved in harboring 80% of the terrorist activities in South Asia”
Several other users, influencers and propagandists have also disseminated the claims. Their posts can be seen here, @AdnaniqbalTarar, @PSYWAROPS.
The truth behind the claims about Canada, Fact Check
As soon as the posts containing the claims made by propagandists came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the claims. We found that these claims are nothing more than propaganda.
To verify the claims made by propagandists. We performed relevant keyword searches but couldn’t find any verified and credible sources supporting these claims. However, reports (1, 2) from the French magazine Le Spectacle du Monde have instead revealed alarming links between Pakistan and the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Additionally, a Pakistan-trained terrorist was also arrested in West Bengal.
Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that these claims are false and fabricated. Canada has not made any such statement.
