Fact Check: Extremists from a specific community attacked a Hindu temple in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri? 

A CCTV video showing a group of young boys involved in stone-pelting inside a temple premises has been circulated with claims that extremists from a specific community attacked a Hindu temple in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri. However, according to police reports, both groups involved belong to the same community, and the incident arose from a dispute between teenagers. When one group entered the temple premises, the other responded by throwing stones. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are taking further action.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) RW media outlet “Sudarshan News” wrote, “Jihadis pelted stones at Kali Mata Mandir in Jahangirpuri, Delhi”. Later, they deleted the post.

Propaganda account @KumaarSaagar also shared the video and wrote, Suddenly Jihadis pelted stones at Kali Mata temple in Jahangirpuri. It is being said that it was a fight between children, then why was the temple pelted with stones..? Later, he deleted the post.

The truth about the video shared as Jahangirpuri, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that it was not related to religious hate crimes and temple vandalism.

To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video using Google Lens. This led us to media reports containing the same visuals. According to the media (ABP) and police sources, both groups involved belong to the same community, and the incident arose from a dispute between teenagers. When one group entered the temple premises, the other responded by throwing stones. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are taking further action.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the incident was not related to religious hate crimes as being portrayed on social media.
