Fact Check: Haryana man attacks people at Golden Temple premises in Amritsar, misleading claims circulated

A violent incident occurred inside the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar on March 14, 2025, when a man armed with an iron rod attacked devotees, injuring five people, including two in serious condition. Recently, claims have emerged suggesting that a Hindu individual was responsible for the attack. However, these claims are false. According to reports and police sources, the accused has been identified as Zulfan, confirming that he is not from the Hindu community.

Making a post on X (Formerly Twitter), @LegitimateTargt wrote, “After Surry BC  now Hindutva extremists attacked in the Golden temple.”

The truth behind the claims from Golden Temple, Fact Check 

As soon as the posts containing the claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the incident. We found that the accused was not from the Hindu community.

To verify the claims made by propagandists. We performed relevant keyword searches and found multiple reports and police statements regarding the incident. According to reports (1, 2, 3) and police sources, the accused has been identified as Zulfan, indicating he doesn’t belong to the Hindu community. The name Zulfan is not traditionally associated with the Hindu community. It is commonly linked to Muslim communities, particularly in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and parts of the Middle East.

Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the accused was not from the Hindu community.

Propagandists are spreading misleading claims about the recent incident at the Golden Temple in Amritsar to push their agenda against a specific community.
