Fact Check: Images of a newly engaged couple from Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior surfaced with misleading claims

Images of a newly engaged couple from Gwalior have been circulated with the false claim that a Hindu man married his sister in Bihar. However, these claims are entirely untrue and misleading. The photos were initially shared by a Facebook user named “Jay Tomar Mohanpura” on October 28 of this year to celebrate his friend’s engagement.

Sharing the images on X (Formerly Twitter) @sabih_Khan313 wrote, In Bihar, a Hindu brother has married his sister. When the neighbours asked him why he did this, he said, “Why should my sister go to someone else? It is better that the household goods remain in the house, so I have done this.”

Several other users, influencers and propagandists have also disseminated the images and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here, @AlokkYadavv, @India_Love_26, @jpc_news3015
