A video recently circulating online, showing ISKCON devotees distributing food at a religious site, has been falsely identified as a recent event amid the flooding situation in Bangladesh. However, D-Intent Data has found that the video is old and has nothing to do with Bangladesh.
Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) propagandist account @RealBababanaras wrote “Dear World, This is for your information. Islamists burnt dozens of Hindu temples in Bangladesh including Iskcon temple. Currently, Bangladesh is facing a disaster of flood after heavy rain. Iskcon temple is serving free food to these Islamists & their families in this tough time.”
Another propaganda account @ajaychauhan41 has also shared the video and wrote, Islamists burned down dozens of Hindu temples in Bangladesh, including the ISKCON temple. At present, Bangladesh is facing a flood disaster after heavy rains. The ISKCON temple is serving free food to these Islamists and their families in this difficult time. (Translated from Hindi)
Several other users, influencers and propagandists have also shared the video and made similar claims. Their posts can be seen here, @MeghUpdates, @KreatelyMedia, @FrontalForce
The truth about the viral video of ISKCON devotees, Fact Check
As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that the video was not from Bangladesh but an old video from West Bengal, India.
To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video on Google Lens. This led us to a Facebook post containing the same video uploaded in August 2022. According to the Facebook post. This video shows Bhoga or Anna Prasad(Food) being distributed at the ISKCON temple in Mayapur, West Bengal.
Hence, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the viral video is not of ISKCON devotees distributing food amid the flooding situation in Bangladesh. But an old video from Mayapur, West Bengal.
