A video showing a large crowd at a rally, with slogans being chanted, has been shared with claims that it depicts an extremist rally in Bangladesh targeting Hindus and ISKCON, with chants of “slaughter ISKCON.” However, these claims are not true. The video actually shows a protest rally by the anti-discrimination student movement in Chittagong, demanding the trial of Awami League (AL) leaders and activists for alleged crimes committed under the Sheikh Hasina government.
Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) propagandist account @RadharamnDas wrote. These are not so-called “radical” Muslims or terrorists. The truth about the video, Fact Check
As soon as the posts containing the video and claims came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that the video was unrelated to religious conflict.
To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video using Google Lens. This led us to a Facebook post containing similar visuals from the same protest rally in Chittagong, Bangladesh. As per the Facebook post, the video depicts a protest rally against Awami League leaders and activists.
Additionally, we performed a relevant keyword search and found a report. According to the report, The video actually shows a protest rally by the anti-discrimination student movement in Chittagong, demanding the trial of Awami League (AL) leaders and activists for alleged crimes committed under the Sheikh Hasina government.
However, there are multiple videos available depicting extremists inciting violence against Hindus and ISKCON in Bangladesh but this particular video is not related to protest against Hindus and ISKCON.
Therefore, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the video was not related to a religious protest against Hindus, but it was a protest against Awami League leaders and activists.
