Old Video of Two Unrelated Incidents From China Circulated as Human Organ Smugglers: Fact-Check

An assorted video of two unrelated incidents is being circulated on social media, the first part of the video shows men being beaten up while the last part of the video shows a child’s dead body placed in a box filled with ice cubes, while women around the box making adjustments of the dead body. The video circulates with false claims that Human Organ Smugglers were caught red-handed in China. Here is the fact. 

Video circulating with false claims

The sensitive video was shared by a Propaganda account @ajaychauhan41 (Archived) sharing the video where the user claimed that Chinese nationals were caught smuggling human organs.

Research, Analysis and Fact

Upon research D-Intent Data team found a local police statement on Weibo that reads the first part of the video was filmed on December 14, 2017, at Sanjiaoba village in Sinan County, Guizhou Province, while the child in the video is from Mingyueshan village, Xiushan Town, Taojiang County, Yiyang City, Hunan province. The child drowned & died at his relatives’ home in Guangzhou city. Due to the summer heat, his family placed his body in a Styrofoam box filled with ice cubes before transporting it home for burial in 2017.During the research, we found several reports 1 (Archived), 2, 3 debunking the assorted video clip.

Intent

Misinformation propaganda accounts are circulating old videos of two unrelated incidents to get the spotlight on social media and create panic among people.

Conclusion

Claim- Chinese people caught human organ smugglers red-handed.

Fact- This video is of two unrelated incidents and has nothing to do with human organ smuggling.
