Fact Check: Digitally Altered Video Falsely Claims IAF Chief Confirmed Missing Pilot and Rafale Loss

A video circulating on social media falsely claims that Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh confirmed that Lieutenant Shivangi Singh is missing and that India lost four Rafale jets during the May 2025 conflict with Pakistan. In truth, the video is digitally altered the IAF Chief never made such a statement, and Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh continues to actively serve in the Indian Air Force.

A propaganda account @InsiderWB posted the manipulated video with the caption:

“🚨 The Indian Air Chief has confirmed that Lieutenant Shivangi Singh is still missing. He cannot be held hostage to the racist ideology of the RSS and BJP. He must tell the truth.”

This fabricated clip was amplified by other misinformation pages attempting to target the Indian Armed Forces.

Truth: Original IAF Video Shows No Mention of Missing Pilot or Rafale Loss

As the fake claim spread widely across social media, it drew our attention. The D-Intent Data Team conducted a detailed investigation, frame by frame analysis and cross-verification of the video. Our findings led us to the official @IAF_MCC X handle, which had published the Address of the Chief of the Air Staff on the eve of the 93rd Air Force Day. In the verified video, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh spoke about the modernization, preparedness, and achievements of the IAF. He never mentioned any missing pilot or Rafale losses.

and @tracomiaf shared a post on October 9, 2025, about the Valedictory Ceremony for the 159th Qualified Flying Instructor Course (QFIC) held at AFS Tambaram, attended by IAF officers — further proving the Air Force’s normal functioning.

All evidence confirms that the viral video was digitally manipulated to mislead viewers. Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh remains an active officer, and there are no verified reports of any Rafale losses.

Intent:

Propaganda accounts are circulating digitally altered videos of Air Chief Marshal AP Singh with false claims to set their narrative against India.
