Fact Check: Biker chased and mauled to death by Rhino in Assam, propagandists circulate communal claims

A video depicting a rhino chasing and attacking a biker has been circulated with claims that Saddam Ali, an illegal immigrant with an unauthorized residence in Kachutoli, Assam—home to rhinos—was killed by the animal. It is alleged that he ignored multiple police orders to leave government land. However, these claims about his foreign identity and police orders are false and baseless.

Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter) propagandist account, @MeghUpdates wrote, Saddam Ali, an alleged illegal immigrant who had an illegal house in Kachutoli, Assam, a natural habitat of Rhinos was killed by rhino. Despite repeated police orders to vacate govt land, he didn’t comply.

Another propaganda account @HPhobiaWatch has also shared the video and wrote, Saddam Ali who illegally occupied forest land is killed by a Rhino. Just a week ago he was given notice to vacate the land & move to refugee camp. Even Assam’s Rhinos are tired of illegal Kanglu immigrants”.

Several other users, influencers and propagandists have also disseminated the video and made similar claims.  Their posts can be seen here, @KreatelyMedia, @NANDANPRATIM
