The truth about the video of a Boy attacks girl with a sharp weapon in Kolkata, Fact Check
As soon as the posts containing the sensitive visuals came to our notice. Subsequently, we conducted research and analysis of the incident and found that the victim and accused belonged to the same community.
To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the video on Google Lens. This led us to a media report containing the same visuals. According to the media report( TOI), Abhijit Dutta, a youth from Prafulla Nagar in Belgharia, on Wednesday (4 September ) afternoon attacked a 14-year-old girl in the middle of the road and stabbed her at least thrice with a sharp weapon after she reportedly slapped him following a lewd comment he made.
As per the report, Abhijit Dutta had earlier professed his love for the girl but she had turned him down. On September 4, 2024, when she was returning home from her school, an English-medium institute at Belgharia, Dutta again approached her and when she again refused him, he made a lewd comment, which prompted her to slap him. Later, he attacked the girl.
Therefore, it is evident from verified sources that the victim and accused belonged to the same community and the incident was not related to religion-based hate crimes.
