Recently, a video has been circulating on social media, purportedly showing a bulldozer destroys an ATM machine in Uttar Pradesh. However, D-Intent Data has discovered that this video is not recent and is not related to Uttar Pradesh. The footage actually dates back to April 2022 and was filmed in Maharashtra. Specifically, it depicts an incident in the Miraj area of Sangli, where criminals used a stolen excavator in a failed attempt to steal an Axis Bank ATM. The video was misrepresented as a recent event in Uttar Pradesh, but in reality, it has no connection to the region or any recent occurrences.
Sharing the video on X (Formerly Twitter), Keshav Dev Maurya (@keshavdevmaurya) wrote. “Look brother, now Babaji’s bulldozer has started robbing ATMs too!” (translated from Hindi), later, he deleted the post.

As soon as the posts containing the visuals and claims came to our notice, we conducted research and analysis of the video and found that this video was not from Uttar Pradesh but an old incident from Maharashtra.
To verify the claims made by the users. We performed a reverse image search of some key frames from the viral video on Google Lens. This led us to several media reports containing the same visuals, uploaded in April 2022.
According to the media reports(1, 2) this is an old video from Sangli, Maharashtra where thieves attempted to steal an Axis Bank ATM from the Miraj area of Sangli using a stolen excavator. The ATM had Rs 27 lakh cash. As per the reports, the police later arrested eight men after seizing the JCB machine, gas-cutting torches and cylinders, a pick-up van and 247 kg of metal.
Hence, it is evident from D-Intent Data’s Fact Check that the viral video depicting a bulldozer destroying an ATM is not from Uttar Pradesh but an old incident from Sangli, Maharashtra.
