Fact-Check: Propagandists Circulate decades old image of dead bodies of terrorists with false claims

Bangladesh-based anti-India propaganda accounts circulate a sensitive image that features a number of covered dead bodies lying on the ground. And surrounded by men in uniform. The image has been shared and projected as it features dead bodies of the Indian soldiers. The users claim 8 Indian soldiers lost their lives in a gun battle with militants in Kashmir. However, D-Intent Data has found the shared image is from 2011 and is decades old image of dead bodies of terrorists.

Decades old image of dead bodies of terrorists circulates with false claims

Fake news peddler Bangladesh-based anti-India propaganda account @FaryalBD on X( Formerly Twitter) has shared the image and said. “According to Indian TV channels, the death toll has risen to 8. Two Indian soldiers were killed in a gun battle with Kashmiri freedom fighters yesterday. Source: Kashmir Urdu”.

Truth revealed: Decades old image of dead bodies of terrorists from 2011 incident

As soon as the post came to our knowledge, We tried to find if the claims were false or true. To verify the claims we did a reverse image search on google which led us to several news reports containing the same image. According to reports. This is an old image showing dead bodies of terrorists who were killed while trying to sneak into India along the LoC in the Gurez sector of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district in August 2011.

Five AK rifles, one pistol, two boats, 50 assorted grenades, two radio sets, two compasses and a global positioning system besides a large quantity of war-like stores were recovered from them.

The shared image is an old image showing dead bodies of terrorists the claims made by the user are false and self-invented. Also, no such news came to light recently, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Baramulla.

So, Bangladesh-based anti-India propaganda accounts are circulating decades old images with false and self-invented claims to set their narrative against India.
