Fact Check: Old Social Media Personality Mistakenly Linked to Indian Army

Pakistan-based propaganda accounts are falsely claiming that Pakistan’s security agencies arrested Major Dal Bahar Singh, a serving Indian Army officer, disguised as a mosque imam in Peshawar. This claim is baseless and unsupported by any credible or official sources. The image being circulated is not of an Indian Army officer but of a Pakistani man named Daud Shah, who went viral on social media in 2020–21.

Several accounts including @defensewatch, @faizannriaz, @SiyasiSoch, @intel_DOI, @Hoor_e_Ain, @chaiforpeace, @KashmiriTales, @Intel_Observer and @FaizTar posted this false claim, alleging that Pakistan had “unveiled India’s cross-border terrorism network.

s this claim gained traction, it drew our attention. The D-Intent Data Team conducted an investigation using keyword research and verified sources. His videos and photos have been widely available online since 2020–21 and were shared by multiple Facebook and YouTube channels such as PkStarOfficial, Lanja Maar, Olasi Adalat with Muhammad Kashif, Aam Khaber, Pashto Official, and Pashto Video.
